Hi, I’m Tarryn. Welcome to Pride of Africa; a place where I can share my love of all things African with you.
I was born in Zimbabwe and lived there for 15 beautiful, adventurous years until political unrest forced my family to make a move to Australia in 2003. I now live in the Lake Macquarie region of New South Wales with my husband Jason and our daughter Autumn.
The African culture is rich and varied. There are many tribes, each with their own unique traditions and characteristics. Many of these traditions and beliefs are brought to life through ancient arts and skills such as weaving, carving and painting. Through a deep connection and love of Africa, and a desire to share the amazing culture, Pride of Africa was born.
Our range of beautiful products have all been handmade by artists from all over Africa. Sourced from individuals and small groups, the sale of these pieces aids in the development of communities. Each product has been made by hand so you can be assured that no two are ever exactly the same. We are strictly against child labour and all of the artisans are paid fair wages. The creation and sale of each product creates employment for many talented individuals who are able to provide for their families as a result and carry on the ancient traditions and skills of their ancestors. Here at Pride of Africa we believe in empowering individuals, empowering communities and keeping the African culture alive.
